The exact list depends on the model and its published data map. Start with the monitoring and control points the project will actually use.

  • Phase current, average current and neutral current where exposed by the selected version
  • Active, reactive and apparent power, power factor and frequency
  • Demand and limit values selected for the monitoring application
  • Device and communication status needed to distinguish a live zero from stale telemetry
  • Tariff energy counters require a separate decision: Siemens documents them as four-register 64-bit Double values, outside the initial native 32-bit Edge mapping scope

Acceptance: Compare the decoded value with the simultaneous L1-N reading on the meter display. Retain the raw response, configured byte and word order, timestamp and observed difference before mapping further points.

  1. Read and photograph the complete ordering code and firmware identity before selecting the map. Do not treat PAC2200 as one interchangeable hardware interface.
  2. Confirm the installed IP address, configured Modbus TCP port and unit identifier. Port 502 is the documented default, not a value to assume on an existing site.
  3. Create the network rule from Edge to the meter only. The PAC2200 IP filter restricts writes by subnet; it is not authentication or encryption.
  4. Start with the read-only voltage check above. Do not write registers, reset counters or change protection settings as part of an integration test.
  5. Configure Edge with Siemens' protocol offset 1. If another client asks for 4xxxx display notation, the equivalent reference is 40002; do not put that five-digit display reference into a field that expects the zero-based PDU start.
  6. Check units and signed direction for power values against the front panel under a stable operating condition, then observe fresh timestamps over several polling intervals.
  7. Keep the PAC2200 hardware write protection enabled unless an authorised commissioning procedure explicitly requires a local change.
  8. Treat connection success and measurement success as separate gates. A responding TCP socket does not prove that the address, data type or word order is correct.
