Case studies
Thirteen projects in data centres, utilities, life sciences, logistics, manufacturing, retail and aviation, with the results each customer reported.
Case study results
Royal Mail · Logistics
A Cardiff pilot connected site measurements to the existing EnergyCAP platform, providing the basis for a 40-mail-centre rollout.
- Pilot followed by a 40-centre rollout plan
Enel X & Microsoft · Data centres
EpiSensor measurement and control infrastructure supported Enel X’s use of Microsoft’s UPS batteries for grid frequency response, alongside Eaton’s UPS technology.
- UPS batteries used for frequency response
ESB · Wind generation
At Grouselodge wind park, EpiSensor measurements and APIs supplied an ESB proof of concept exploring how renewable generation could be matched to consumption.
- Generation matched to consumption in a proof of concept
Merck · Life sciences
Merck’s Cork site has used EpiSensor to monitor electricity, gas and water since 2015, extending the system as new areas and projects were added.
- Utility monitoring since 2015
3Arena · Event operations
Detailed energy measurements helped the 3Arena team adjust equipment schedules to its event programme and identify loads running while the venue was idle.
- Six-figure annual savings at the venue
Veolia · District heating
At Hale Village, EpiSensor connected heat and water readings across 1,300 monitoring locations. Veolia retained control of the data for its own billing and service tools.
- 1,300 monitoring locations in six weeks
CoolPlanet · Manufacturing
Circuit-level measurements helped CoolPlanet find boiler trips and out-of-hours loads, then target changes to plant operation.
- 10-week payback on initial metering spend
ETS & Woodie’s · Retail
EpiSensor metering supplied the data for ETS and Spacewell Energy to monitor use and configure site-specific alerts across Woodie’s stores.
- 74 meters across 36 stores
Enel X · Dublin Airport
EpiSensor frequency monitoring and control helped Enel X bring the airport’s backup generation into demand response and grid-service programmes.
- 8 MW in I-SEM and 3 MW in DS3
Foyle Food Group · Food production
EpiSensor monitoring across seven facilities helped Foyle connect utility use to production activity and examine performance across its estate.
- 14% lower gas intensity in 2022–23
NuEnergyTek · Energy software
NuEnergyTek built its own energy dashboard on EpiSensor’s IoT infrastructure, retaining its software proposition while drawing on our measurement and integration support.
- Partner dashboard built on EpiSensor data
Inteligistics · Cold chain
We worked with Inteligistics on temperature sensing for a difficult cold-chain environment, adapting the hardware and connection behaviour to the application.
- Hardware adapted for cold-chain conditions
CoolPlanet · Remote commissioning
EpiSensor and CoolPlanet supported customers installing and commissioning monitoring when normal site access was restricted, keeping new measurements connected to Clarity.
- Sites commissioned without a site visit
