Specifications
Aqara says it reports once an hour while conditions are steady, and at once when temperature changes by more than 0.5 °C or humidity by more than 6 %. It is an indoor sensor, and Aqara advises against fridges, kitchens, washrooms and places exposed to rain or vapour. Aqara gives its range to the hub as about 10 m indoors, through walls.3

Where it is used
Room temperature and humidity in offices, meeting rooms and classrooms, where a small battery sensor needs no wiring.
Indoor environmental monitoringDry storerooms and small comms rooms within its -20 to 50 °C range. It is not rated for fridges or damp rooms.
Server room and rack temperature monitoringBarometric pressure logged alongside room conditions, from the same sensor.

The battery percentage can take up to 24 hours to appear after pairing. Measurements arrive as the sensor reports them; they cannot be polled. Device temperature is the sensor’s own internal temperature, not a second room reading.4
Setup
-
Open pairing in Edge
In Edge, open pairing on the Gateway’s Zigbee network, with the sensor close to the Gateway.
-
Hold the reset button
Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds until the indicator starts blinking. The sensor then joins by itself. If it does not, try a single short press, or a fresh battery.4
-
Confirm the join
Check that Edge identifies it as Aqara WSDCGQ12LM. A single press of the button makes it report its temperature and humidity at once.3
-
Place it
Stand it in place or stick it on with its adhesive tape, away from metal surfaces, which weaken its signal.3
-
Check it stays connected
Leave it for a day and check that readings keep arriving. If it drops off, re-pair it closer to the Gateway.4
Common questions
- Does the WSDCGQ12LM need an Aqara hub to work with Edge?
- No. It is a Zigbee 3.0 device, so it pairs with the Zigbee radio on an EpiSensor Gateway, and Edge reads it on the Gateway without an Aqara hub.2
- How often does it report?
- Aqara says once an hour when conditions are steady, and at once when temperature changes by more than 0.5 °C or humidity by more than 6 %. A single press of the button also makes it report.3
- Why does it sometimes drop off the network?
- Aqara battery sensors do not follow the Zigbee standard in every respect. They can disconnect when the signal is weak, when the battery voltage sags, or when they route through some other manufacturers’ routers. Re-pairing it close to the Gateway usually fixes it.4
- How do I reset it?
- Press and hold the reset button for more than 5 seconds until the indicator blinks three times. It is then ready to pair again.3
