NodOn STPH-4-1-00
Solar temperature and humidity sensor
A Zigbee 3.0 room sensor that runs on light. A solar cell charges it from ordinary room lighting, an optional CR2032 cell covers dark spaces, and it reports whenever temperature moves by 0.5 °C or humidity by 2 % RH.

Specifications
The STPH-4-1-00 is NodOn's Zigbee 3.0 temperature and humidity sensor. It has no battery to change in normal use: a photovoltaic cell on the front harvests energy from room light. Where a room is dark for long periods, an optional CR2032 cell takes over, and NodOn rates it for three years in complete darkness.13
- Power
- Energy harvesting. Solar cell energy harvester charged by room light, with an optional CR2032 cell rated for three years in complete darkness. An ON/OFF slide switch isolates it.1

Where it is used
Room temperature and humidity in offices, meeting rooms and homes, with no battery round to plan in well-lit spaces.
Indoor environmental monitoringHeating and cooling checks by room, confirming that schedules and set points deliver the temperatures they are meant to.
HVAC energy monitoring for commercial buildingsBathrooms and kitchens, where humidity above a threshold such as 60 % RH can trigger extraction.
Wine cellars and other dim stores, with the optional CR2032 fitted.
Interface
Readings and settings, with units and ranges where NodOn publishes them.

Temperature and humidity come from the standard Zigbee Temperature Measurement and Relative Humidity Measurement clusters, and battery level from the Power Configuration cluster.4
Out of the box it reports on a change of 0.5 °C or 2 % RH, and otherwise once an hour. A steady room therefore produces few messages, and a gap of up to an hour between readings is normal.1
A single press of the button on a sensor already in a network makes it synchronise with the Gateway; the LED flashes green once to confirm it is still joined.2
Setup
-
Switch it on in the light
Slide the switch to ON and hold the solar cell to ambient light for a few seconds, ideally near a window. When the LED flashes green once, the sensor is ready to join.2
-
Open pairing in Edge
In Edge, open pairing on the Gateway's Zigbee network. The Gateway accepts new devices while pairing is open.
-
Press the button once
A sensor that is not in a network starts pairing on a single press. The LED flashes orange for up to 30 seconds while it searches, then flashes green once it has joined.2
-
Reset it if it will not join
Press and hold button 2 on the back for 5 seconds until the LED blinks red twice, then press once to pair again.2
-
Mount it and check a reading
Fix it where the room's temperature is typical, with the solar cell facing the light. Compare its first readings with a reference thermometer placed beside it.2
Common questions
- Does the STPH-4-1-00 need a battery?
- Not in a room with enough light. A solar cell harvests energy from ambient light. For dark rooms, fit the optional CR2032 cell, which NodOn rates for three years in complete darkness.13
- How often does it report?
- It samples every 100 seconds and reports as soon as temperature changes by 0.5 °C or humidity by 2 % RH. In a steady room it reports once an hour by default, and that interval is configurable.13
- Does it need a NodOn hub to work with Edge?
- No. It is a Zigbee 3.0 device that works with a Zigbee-compatible gateway, so it pairs with the Zigbee radio on an EpiSensor Gateway and Edge reads it directly.1
- Can it be used outdoors?
- No. NodOn specifies it for indoor use only, with an IP20 rating.2
