SONOFF SNZB-03P

PIR motion sensor

A battery-powered Zigbee 3.0 PIR motion sensor with a 6 m, 110° detection zone, a clear delay adjustable from 5 to 60 seconds and a dim or bright light flag, rated for more than three years on one CR2477 coin cell.

Specifications

The SNZB-03P is a passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor that reports occupancy over Zigbee 3.0. SONOFF gives it a detection distance of 6 m and a detection angle of 110°. It runs on one CR2477 coin cell, which SONOFF rates for more than three years depending on how often it triggers, and it uses an EFR32MG22 radio.1

Where it is used

  • Occupancy in corridors, toilets and stores, to show when lighting and ventilation run in spaces nobody is using.

HVAC energy monitoring for commercial buildings
  • Room use beside temperature, humidity and CO₂ readings, so a warm or stuffy room can be read against whether anyone was in it.

    Indoor environmental monitoring
  • Out-of-hours movement in plant rooms and stores, reported to Edge as an event.

The clear delay is the standard Zigbee occupancy-sensing attribute for PIR sensors (attribute 0x0020 on cluster 0x0406). The light flag is a SONOFF manufacturer-specific attribute (0x2001 on cluster 0xFC11) and only updates when motion is detected.3

The light flag is dim or bright only. It is not an illuminance reading in lux, so use a light sensor where you need a level.2

Setup

  1. Open pairing in Edge

In Edge, open pairing on the Gateway’s Zigbee network. The Gateway accepts new devices while pairing is open.

  2. Power it on

Rotate the sensor to open it, unscrew the battery cover with a coin and pull out the battery insulation sheet. On its first power-up the red LED flashes slowly for 180 seconds while the sensor looks for a network.1

  3. Or start pairing by hand

On a sensor that has been paired before, press and hold the button for 5 seconds until the LED flashes slowly.1

  4. Confirm the join

The LED stays on for 3 seconds and then goes out when the sensor has joined. Check that Edge identifies it as SONOFF SNZB-03P.1

  5. Check the signal where it will be mounted

Hold it in its final position and press the button once. Two quick flashes mean it can reach the Gateway or a Zigbee router from there; one quick flash means it is not on the network.1

  6. Walk test it

Walk across the detection zone and confirm Edge shows occupancy, then stay out of view and confirm it clears after the delay you set.

Common questions

Does the SNZB-03P need a SONOFF hub to work with Edge?
No. It is a Zigbee 3.0 device, so it joins the Zigbee radio on an EpiSensor Gateway directly, without a SONOFF hub or the eWeLink app.1
Will it detect someone sitting still?
Not reliably. It is a PIR sensor, and SONOFF notes that it may not detect a target that is not moving. Use a mmWave presence sensor at desks and in meeting rooms where people sit still for long periods.1
How long does the battery last?
SONOFF rates the CR2477 coin cell for more than three years, depending on how often the sensor triggers. A busy corridor drains it faster than a store room. Edge reports the battery level and the cell voltage.1
How quickly does it report that a space is empty?
After the clear delay, which you can set from 5 to 60 seconds. SONOFF describes it as the time with no motion before the sensor can trigger again.12
Can it see through glass?
No. SONOFF notes that glass, acrylic and walls block the infrared it detects, so mount it with a clear view of the area you want to cover.1
