Deye MC-L522-2H2

Commercial battery energy storage system

The MC-L522-2H2 and MC-L522-2H3 are 250 kW AC battery cabinets with 522.496 kWh of 314 Ah LiFePO4 cells, liquid cooling and aerosol and water fire suppression. Deye lists RS485, Modbus TCP and DIDO for integration with a site energy management system. Edge reads the cabinet over Modbus TCP with the project point list from Deye, or measures its 400 V AC feeder with an EpiSensor ZEM.

Compatibility

Compatible with EpiSensor Edge over Modbus TCP, or through an EpiSensor ZEM on the AC feeder

Deye’s product page, brochure and manual list RS485, Modbus TCP and DIDO as the cabinet’s communication interfaces, and the product page says they serve integration with site energy management systems. Edge is a Modbus TCP client and reads the cabinet with the addresses, data types and units in the project point list from Deye. Edge also measures the cabinet through an EpiSensor ZEM with Rogowski coils on its 380/400 V three-phase AC connection: charge and discharge power and energy at the battery’s AC boundary.

MC-L522-2H2 and MC-L522-2H3 AC cabinets from the MC-L522-2H2&3 EU user manual V01 and the 20260731 V1.0 brochures, with up to three MC-L522-BC-2 battery cabinets. Site check: obtain the Modbus TCP endpoint and point list for the installed cabinet and MS-EMS from Deye, and record the nameplate, firmware and number of battery cabinets. Read only; dispatch stays with the MS-EMS or the site controller.

Give the Gateway an address on the protected site network and configure the reads from the project point list: identity, operating state, AC power, state of charge and alarms first. Where an MS-EMS supervises the cabinet, agree with Deye which device serves the monitoring client and whether a second client may poll alongside the EMS. Read only. The customer-platform output is optional; Edge remains the local system of record.

A qualified electrician fits the ZEM’s Rogowski coils on the three phases of the feeder between the cabinet’s AC combiner box and the site switchboard, with the voltage reference taken from the same circuit. The ZEM reports over the EpiSensor wireless network, so no Deye network, EMS or PCS setting changes. The customer-platform output is optional; Edge remains the local system of record.

Interface

Documented measurements and integration boundaries for MC-L522-2H2.

  • Deye does not publish the cabinet’s Modbus TCP point list in the manual or brochures; the project point list from Deye supplies addresses, function codes, data types, scale factors, word order and power sign.
  • From that list, start with identity, operating state, AC active power, state of charge and alarm words, and keep the cabinet, battery cabinet, MS-EMS and site-meter values as separate sources with their own timestamps.
  • Through an EpiSensor ZEM on the AC feeder, Edge records voltage, current and active power per phase and import and export energy at the cabinet’s AC connection.
  • Fire alarm, EPO and system emergency fault dry contacts stay with the life-safety system. No charge, discharge, export-limit or grid-service command is in scope of this guide; any control needs the site owner’s and Deye’s agreement.

Assessment

MC-L522-2H2 and MC-L522-2H3 AC cabinets with up to three MC-L522-BC-2 battery cabinets, from the MC-L522-2H2&3 EU user manual V01 and the 20260731 V1.0 brochures. Read-only monitoring; no dispatch or grid-service claim.

InteroperabilityLimited
Deye lists Modbus TCP, RS485 and DIDO for integration with a site energy management system. The point list is not public, so each project needs Deye’s document before Edge can read the cabinet.13
AccuracyNot yet assessed
The retained documents give ratings but no readable point set with units, resolution, sign or update rate.
SecurityLimited
The manual points to Deye’s security response centre for vulnerability reports and advisories. It documents no authentication, roles or network hardening for the local Modbus TCP interface, so keep it on a protected site network.3
ReliabilitySupported with conditions
A 24 V DC UPS with a lead-acid battery keeps control power, and the manual documents normal, black-start and emergency power-off procedures. Client recovery and data buffering for the monitoring interface are not described.3
RuggednessSupported with conditions
IP54, corrosion grade C4 or better, -30 to 55 °C with derating from 40 °C and up to 3000 m are published for outdoor installation.34
ScalabilityLimited
Up to three battery cabinets per AC cabinet and AC-coupled multi-cabinet systems are shown. The number of monitoring clients and polling capacity are not published.4
LifecycleSupported with conditions
Deye ESS publishes a dated brochure and a V01 manual for the 2H2 and 2H3 cabinets in its download centre. Record firmware and the point-list revision at commissioning and repeat the comparison after an update.34

Setup

  1. Record the installed system

Record the AC cabinet nameplate (MC-L522-2H2 or MC-L522-2H3), the number of MC-L522-BC-2 battery cabinets, any MS-MPPT or STS cabinet, the MS-EMS and the firmware shown in Deye EMS. The brochure allows at most three battery cabinets without a PCS in parallel with one AC cabinet. These values belong in the commissioning sheet, not in Modbus reads.

  2. Ask Deye for the Modbus TCP point list

The MC-L522-2H2&3 manual V01 lists Modbus TCP in the technical specifications but does not publish the register table or name a third-party port. Ask Deye ESS for the endpoint (IP address, TCP port and unit identifier), the point list for the installed firmware and whether the cabinet or the MS-EMS serves it. Ask whether a second client may poll while the MS-EMS is running.

  3. Configure the first reads

In Edge, add a Modbus TCP device at the address Deye gives. From the point list, read identity, operating state, AC active power, state of charge and the alarm words first, with the function code, data type, scale, word order and sign the list states. Compare each value with Deye EMS or the Deye ESS app at the same time before adding more points. A timeout or exception is missing data, not zero.

  4. Fit the ZEM on the AC feeder

250 kW at 400 V is about 361 A per phase at unity power factor, so 1000 A Rogowski coils suit the cabinet feeder. A qualified electrician fits them on L1, L2 and L3 between the AC combiner box and the site switchboard and takes the ZEM voltage reference from the same circuit. Record which direction is import, so charge and discharge carry the right sign.

  5. Compare during an existing schedule

During a charge or discharge the MS-EMS already schedules, compare the ZEM active power with the power Deye EMS shows for the cabinet over the same interval. Keep the site connection meter separate: it includes loads and PV. Send no new command for the check; dispatch stays with the MS-EMS or the site controller.

Common questions

How does the MC-L522-2H3 differ from the MC-L522-2H2?
The retained manual covers both as model MC-L522-2H2/3, and both brochures tabulate the same 250 kW, 522.496 kWh, 832 V DC values. The 2H3 brochure is titled for Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America; the documents do not state another difference, so record the nameplate.345
How many battery cabinets can one MC-L522-2H2 drive?
The brochure’s system diagrams allow up to three MC-L522-BC-2 battery cabinets without a PCS in parallel with one AC cabinet. Each BC-2 adds 522.496 kWh nominal at 832 V DC.4
Can Edge charge or discharge the cabinet?
Not from this guide. It configures reads only. Charge, discharge, export limiting and backup behaviour stay with the MS-EMS or site controller, and any control needs the site owner’s and Deye’s agreement.36
