Deye: Solar inverters and battery energy systems

Deye supplies string, hybrid and microinverters, battery systems and cloud tools for residential and commercial energy projects.

Summary

Best for
Solar and battery projects needing phase, battery-voltage and grid-operation choices within one product range.
Less suited to
Assuming an RS485 or CAN connector is a documented general-purpose monitoring interface or an approved battery pairing.
Deployment
Grid-tied or hybrid inverter, compatible battery and metering equipment, with optional monitoring and energy-management services.
Data in
PV, inverter, battery and site energy information; connection purpose depends on the model and communications port.

Overview

Deye's inverter range includes grid-tied string inverters, microinverters and hybrid products that combine PV with battery storage. The hybrid catalogue separates single-phase, split-phase and three-phase equipment, and distinguishes low-voltage from high-voltage battery arrangements. Those choices give the range several installation patterns rather than one universal hybrid inverter.

The company also offers all-in-one and modular storage systems and Deye Cloud for monitoring and energy management. A residential project may combine an inverter and battery with household energy controls, while commercial projects can use larger storage assemblies. The hardware and software are presented as parts of an energy system, not simply as solar-generation displays.

Offering

The SUN-3–12K-SG05LP3-EU-SM2 datasheet describes a three-phase hybrid family using a 40–60 V battery input and two maximum-power-point trackers. Its variants range from 3 to 12 kW rated AC active power, with charging and discharging limits that increase across the models.

The same family supports AC coupling for an existing solar installation, scheduled battery charging and discharging, and energy collection from a generator. Deye lists parallel operation for compatible units and separate limits for unbalanced phase output. These functions distinguish the hybrid product from a straightforward grid-tied string inverter: it participates in managing stored energy and multiple power sources at the site.

Technology

The SG04LP3 installation manual separates battery BMS, meter and parallel connections, and labels its Modbus port as reserved. This distinction matters because a connector labelled RS485 or CAN does not by itself describe the permitted data or control function. The newer SG05LP3 family datasheet lists Wi-Fi, RS485 and CAN, but is not a complete third-party register map.

At the application layer, Deye Cloud describes monitoring, event information, energy analysis and device management. Its architecture also names an OpenAPI route. Those manufacturer-described interfaces are useful starting points for integration research; an independently tested Edge connection and its exact firmware/register scope are not established here.

Markets

Deye Cloud includes a residential energy-management service called Copilot. Deye describes using electricity-price information, load forecasts and solar forecasts to plan battery charging and discharging, with manual and automated modes. This is a tariff-aware operating service, separate from the fixed time schedules available directly in a hybrid inverter.

The broader Deye catalogue distinguishes residential PV and energy storage from commercial PV and storage systems. Its contact directory provides regional service centres and sales channels across multiple markets. For an owner or installer, that creates a practical route from selecting the equipment to obtaining help with its operation and local support.

Company

The inverter website identifies Ningbo Deye Inverter Technology Co., Ltd. and publishes its global headquarters in Ningbo, Zhejiang, China. Its corporate overview separately describes Ningbo Deye Technology Co., Ltd., founded in 2000 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in April 2021 under stock code 605117.SH. The same page dates the inverter company to 2007. Those names and dates distinguish the inverter business from the wider corporate scope.

The overview describes PV inverters, energy storage and environmental appliances as the group's principal areas. The inverter business's international contact network includes service centres and regional offices, including a Singapore regional office. This profile focuses on the solar and storage offering rather than treating every product in the wider group as an inverter accessory.
