INTILION scalepac

Commercial battery energy storage system

INTILION scalepac is a modular outdoor LFP system from 1.016 MWh and 500 kVA, built from 254 kWh all-in-one units and controlled through the INTILION Application Unit. The current brochure names Modbus TCP/IP, remote-control protocols and a customer interface, but it does not publish the exact third-party point map, access model or writable safety contract. Edge integration remains unverified.

Compatibility

External monitoring and control require INTILION confirmation

The current product brochure names Modbus TCP/IP, remote-control protocols, a customer interface and IEC 60870-5-101/104 for grid-operator integration. It does not publish the exact firmware-matched point list, interface roles, authentication, writable semantics or fail-safe behavior required for an Edge path.

Current INTILION scalepac family with the INTILION Application Unit only. Record the exact scalepac unit count, PCS configuration, battery version, IAU version, firmware and commissioned application. Do not transfer this guide to scalebloc, scalecube or project-specific third-party components.

Specifications

The brochure tabulates four-to-eight-unit configurations using 254 kWh LFP units, giving 1.016 to 2.032 MWh nominal energy and 914 to 1,828 kWh usable energy at 90% depth of discharge. The tabulated apparent-power limits range from 500 to 1,000 kVA. The current INTILION Application Unit can connect up to 16 units, so the table is not the maximum complete-system size.1

Interface

Documented measurements and integration boundaries for scalepac.

  • Potential identity, communications state, availability, operating mode and alarms require the approved IAU customer-interface map.
  • Potential AC power, import and export energy, state of charge, state of health and available charge or discharge power must retain source, sign, unit, quality and freshness.
  • Unit, PCS, battery, IAU, site-meter, trader and grid-operator values are separate measurement boundaries and must not be collapsed into one generic BESS point.
  • No charge, discharge, market, power-plant-controller or grid-service command is approved by this guide.

Assessment

Current INTILION scalepac family with IAU; no released Edge path, writes, market participation or grid-compliance claim.

InteroperabilityLimited
Relevant protocols and integration roles are named, but the firmware-matched customer point contract is not public in the retained evidence.1
AccuracyNot yet assessed
The externally readable point set, units, sign, quality, accuracy and freshness are not established.
SecurityLimited
The brochure states that cloud data is stored on Western European servers, but it does not define authentication, roles or network hardening for the local customer interface.1
ReliabilityNot yet assessed
Independent-unit operation and 24/7 vendor monitoring are described, but third-party client recovery, buffering and data retention are not established.1
RuggednessSupported with conditions
IP54, C5 corrosion protection, temperature and altitude limits are published for the current outdoor system.12
ScalabilityLimited
The brochure defines four-to-eight-unit standard systems and up to 16 units per current IAU, but external client count, polling capacity and multi-system point ownership are not published.1
LifecycleSupported with conditions
INTILION publishes a current product page, brochure, expected life of at least 15 years and service packages. Configuration, firmware, warranty and service records remain installation specific.12

Setup

  1. Confirm the delivered system

Capture every scalepac enclosure, PCS and battery identity, the IAU hardware and firmware, the commissioned application, meter arrangement and service boundary.

  2. Map the existing control owners

Separate IAU, PCS, battery management, site meter, protection, trader, grid operator, local generation and customer EMS roles before adding another client.

  3. Obtain the customer-interface contract

Request the exact firmware-matched INTILION interface specification. Confirm endpoint role, authentication, addressing, object types, units, sign conventions, quality states, update rates and client limits.

  4. Commission monitoring first

Prove identity, state, power, energy and alarms against the IAU and connection-point meter. Do not reuse grid-operator or trader interfaces without written project authority.

  5. Treat every command as a safety case

For any later approved setpoint, document owner, range, ramp, interlocks, timeout, local override, rejection feedback, safe fallback and measured connection-point response.

Common questions

Does INTILION scalepac publish Modbus?
Yes. The current brochure lists Modbus TCP/IP among its communication standards. It does not publish the exact customer point map, access rules or firmware boundary needed to claim an Edge integration.1
Can Edge command scalepac from this guide?
No. An approved command path needs the exact writable object, units, range, ramp, interlocks, timeout, rejection feedback and safe fallback. The public brochure does not provide that contract.1
Is scalepac a single 254 kWh system?
The brochure lists a 254 kWh enclosure as the building block, but states that the smallest complete system has four units. Its technical table starts the system range at 1.016 MWh and 500 kVA.1
Do IEC 60870-5-101 and IEC 60870-5-104 prove a customer monitoring path?
No. The brochure names those protocols for individual grid-operator integration. The project must establish the authorised interface, information objects, addressing, command ownership and cyber-security controls.1
