Overview

Sungrow supplies solar inverters, battery systems and the equipment that connects them to monitoring services. These components perform different jobs even when they appear in the same project: an inverter converts electrical power, a battery stores it, and a WiNet module provides a network connection. The SG125CX-P2 commercial inverter, WiNet-S2 and SBR128 battery illustrate those separate roles. Their interfaces should be compared individually instead of treating the Sungrow name as a single communications specification. Offering

The October 2025 inverter manual covers SG125CX-P2, SG110CX-P2 and SG75CX-P2 and describes both single-inverter and daisy-chain RS485 arrangements. WiNet-S2 supports WLAN or Ethernet networking for monitoring, whereas the SBR128 is a high-voltage LFP storage product. The reviewed battery manual specifies 12.8 kWh usable energy and 256 V nominal voltage for SBR128. Those energy and voltage figures describe the battery, not the AC output capacity of a complete storage system. The inverter and its compatible battery configuration determine the wider system. Technology

The January 2026 WiNet-S/S2 safety manual provides an unusually useful distinction for integration planning. Port 502 is described as Modbus TCP but disabled by default; port 516 is enabled by default with SSL encryption. Its RJ45 device connector carries power and RS485, while the separately identified ETH port connects to the network. The inverter manual also describes RJ45 as one RS485 wiring option. Connector shape is therefore insufficient to identify the electrical interface. A client expecting ordinary unencrypted Modbus TCP cannot automatically use the encrypted service, and this research does not establish an Edge driver for it. WiNet port matrix; inverter wiring.

Markets

For commercial solar monitoring, the initial design choice is whether the installation needs a field-bus chain, a local network connection or the manufacturer’s cloud monitoring path. Sungrow’s network-configuration guide supports Ethernet on WiNet-S and WiNet-S2, but explicitly excludes Wi-Fi-P2 from that Ethernet procedure. This is a concrete reason to record the communications accessory as well as the inverter model during a site survey. Storage projects add another boundary: the SBR battery communicates through CAN, which serves a different purpose from the monitoring network. Company

Sungrow’s corporate history dates the company’s establishment to 1997. The group identity described in its official privacy policy is Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd., headquartered in Hefei, Anhui, China. That policy also names a German entity acting as website controller; it should not be mistaken for the group headquarters. The product documentation is organised across regional websites and dated manuals, which makes region and revision meaningful parts of source attribution. This entry retains those details so an engineer can follow a technical statement back to the applicable document rather than a generic global marketing page.
