Overview

SwitchDin connects and coordinates distributed energy resources across individual sites and utility networks. Its current platform covers solar, batteries, EV charging and flexible loads, with separate functions for site control, fleet management and network integration. The energy-management solution combines an on-site controller with cloud software so that local decisions can continue if the internet connection is lost. This architecture is particularly relevant where an export limit or microgrid operating requirement cannot depend on a remote dashboard remaining connected. The product is an operational control layer, not simply a retrospective energy-reporting service.

Offering

The energy-management solution provides whole-site optimisation using tariff, wholesale-price and peak-demand considerations, alongside monitoring and configurable alerts. Its local controller communicates with supported equipment and runs the IEEE 2030.5 client on the device. The Utility Server serves distribution operators by bringing distributed-resource visibility and orchestration into existing operational workflows. A third offering, Public Key Infrastructure, manages identities and trust for utility-to-device communication. These are complementary components: optimising a commercial battery, coordinating a network fleet and issuing trusted device credentials are different operational responsibilities within the wider system.

Technology

SwitchDin's isolated-power-system material names IEEE 2030.5, CSIP-AUS, Modbus and DNP3 among its supported communications. The Utility Server page adds OCPP and charging-management-system integration for EV resources. For Australian network deployments, the PKI service is operated by SwitchDin with DigiCert providing the underlying platform; the documented scope includes CSIP-AUS and IEEE 2030.5 emergency-backstop communications. Protocol support does not by itself define every equipment mapping. The useful integration distinction is between the local equipment connection, the utility control interface and the certificate infrastructure that authenticates participating endpoints.

Markets

Isolated-system operators need local reliability as well as visibility across remote resources. Distribution utilities instead use the Utility Server to bring controllable customer resources into established SCADA or distribution-management workflows. Commercial and industrial sites use the energy-management offering to coordinate batteries, generation and loads against site costs and constraints. These markets share a need for mixed-vendor equipment management, but their acceptance criteria differ: a remote microgrid's continuity requirements are not the same as a commercial site's tariff optimisation or a network's export-control obligations.

Company

SwitchDin's corporate history dates its founding to 2014 and the introduction of the Droplet. Later milestones include remote-network work in 2016, the Origin Energy virtual-power-plant initiative and Onslow Microgrid in 2020, and Flexible Exports work from 2021. A current partnership announcement identifies Sydney as headquarters and describes combining SwitchDin's monitoring and energy-management software with Industrias' maintenance services. The partnership addresses the ongoing operation of installed solar and storage systems, extending the software proposition beyond commissioning into equipment performance over the project's operating life.
