Growatt MID 30–50KTL3-X2
Commercial PV inverter
Growatt's current English datasheet names 33, 36, 40 and 50 kW X2 inverters. Its earlier regional datasheet and matching manual additionally name MID 30KTL3-X2-1. The manual separates an RS485 monitoring pair from meter and reserved pins; none of the retained documents establishes a firmware-matched Edge register contract or control permission.

Commercial PV inverter
Compatibility
Direct Edge reading requires the exact register contract
The X2 manual shows a monitoring RS485 pair, a separate meter pair and optional USB logging modules. It does not establish the model- and firmware-matched third-party register map, readable point semantics, client coexistence or safe control permissions needed for Edge.
MID 33KTL3-X2, 36KTL3-X2, 40KTL3-X2 or 50KTL3-X2 under the 2026 English datasheet. MID 30KTL3-X2-1 is documented in an older official regional datasheet and manual, so confirm its country availability and installed nameplate. Excludes MID TL3-X, MID TL3-X3, MID TL3-XH, MID TL3-XL2 and other X2 ratings.
Models
| Models | Interface | Route into Edge |
|---|---|---|
| MID 30KTL3-X2-1 | 30 kW, three MPPTs in the older official regional datasheet | The current English datasheet omits this model. Confirm the actual country listing, nameplate, firmware and project approval before selecting it. |
| MID 33KTL3-X2 and MID 36KTL3-X2 | 33 or 36 kW, three MPPTs with two strings per MPPT | Use the installed model and current regional grid configuration for its electrical limits. |
| MID 40KTL3-X2 and MID 50KTL3-X2 | 40 or 50 kW, four MPPTs with two strings per MPPT | Do not substitute the similar MID X, X3 or XH generations or assume their interface maps apply. |
Specifications
Growatt's May 2026 English datasheet is marked preliminary and covers MID 33KTL3-X2, 36KTL3-X2, 40KTL3-X2 and 50KTL3-X2. The first two have three MPPTs and the latter two four, each with two strings per MPPT. It gives 1,100 V maximum DC input and 32 A maximum input per MPPT; check final regional data before design.2
- Current English range
- 33, 36, 40 and 50 kW X2 variants2
- PV inputs
- Three MPPTs on 33/36 kW; four on 40/50 kW; two strings per MPPT2
- Communications
- Separate RS485 monitoring and meter pairs; optional USB logger4
- Enclosure
- IP66; -25 to +60 °C in the May 2026 sheet2
- Monitoring accessories
- The current sheet names ShineWilan-X2 for one inverter and ShineMaster4G-X or SEM-XA-R for parallel devices2
Interface
Documented measurements and integration boundaries for MID 30–50KTL3-X2.
- The manual's RS485 A1/B1 pair is presented for inverter monitoring. The separate A3/B3 pair is for an anti-backflow meter; A2/B2 is marked reserved for battery communication. Verify the exact terminal and commissioned wiring before any third-party client is attached.
- The USB-A logger path and Growatt Shine monitoring service are distinct from a direct Edge RS485 reading. A named monitoring accessory does not establish its local export contract.
- Inverter generation, string values and alarms are not point-of-connection import or export measurements. No register address, Edge template or write function is approved by this guide.
Assessment
MID 33, 36, 40 and 50KTL3-X2 in current English datasheet, plus older documented 30KTL3-X2-1 with regional qualification. No direct Edge point or write contract is established.
- InteroperabilityLimited
- A dedicated monitoring RS485 pair is documented, but no exact third-party register contract is retained.4
- AccuracyNot yet assessed
- Readable points, scaling, units and unavailable-value behaviour require the installed firmware's point map.4
- SecurityNot yet assessed
- The retained sources do not define third-party authentication, encryption or read-only privilege separation.4
- ReliabilityLimited
- Electrical and monitoring hardware limits are documented, while third-party client coexistence and stale-data handling need a site test.24
- RuggednessSupported with conditions
- The current datasheet publishes IP66 and operating-temperature limits; installation must meet those limits.2
- ScalabilityLimited
- Growatt names single- and multiple-inverter monitoring accessories, but does not guarantee third-party polling capacity.2
Setup
-
Record the exact X2 nameplate
Capture the full model code including the 30KTL3-X2-1 suffix if present, country grid setting, serial number and firmware. Do not import assumptions from MID X, X3, XH or XL2.
-
Map the existing monitoring equipment
Trace the manual's RS485 monitoring pair, separate anti-backflow meter pair and any USB logger. Identify whether a Shine, ShineMaster or SEM controller already owns a link.
-
Obtain the missing point map
Require Growatt's exact model- and firmware-matched third-party protocol, client role, baud and address setup, functions, register convention, data types, scaling, invalid values and coexistence limits before any reading trial.
-
Keep power control separate
The manual's export limitation, CT or meter and DRM/ripple inputs are part of the commissioned plant design. Do not attach a control client or propose active/reactive power writes from this guide.
Common questions
- Is MID 30KTL3-X2-1 in the current English datasheet?
- No. The May 2026 English table starts at 33 kW. Growatt's earlier regional datasheet and 2023 manual include the 30KTL3-X2-1, so verify current regional availability and project approval for that exact model.234
- Can the meter RS485 pair be used as an Edge monitoring port?
- The manual assigns that pair to the anti-backflow meter. Do not repurpose it. The distinct inverter-monitoring pair still requires a firmware-matched protocol and commissioned access plan before any third-party read.4
