Schneider Electric EasyLogic PM2200
Power and energy meter
The EasyLogic PM2200 series are three-phase panel meters for external 1 A or 5 A current transformers. The PM2220 (class 1 active energy) and PM2230 (class 0.5S) each have one RS-485 port running Modbus RTU, and Schneider publishes one register list for both. The PM2210 has only a pulse output and cannot be read over Modbus. Start with the one-register product ID read below, then add FLOAT32 current, voltage, power and frequency and the INT64 energy counters.
Compatibility
Compatible with EpiSensor Edge over Modbus RTU
Schneider documents RS-485 Modbus RTU on the PM2220 and PM2230 and publishes their register list, including a product ID register that identifies each model.
PM2220 and PM2230 only (METSEPM2220, METSEPM2230 and their D and VN references). The PM2210 has no RS-485 port. Register numbers come from Schneider's PM2xxx register list v1050_6, supplied with firmware package 1.05.03: record the installed firmware on the display and confirm the serial port is not set to Retrofit.

Specifications
The PM2200 is a compact 96 x 96 mm panel meter that reads its currents through external CTs. Two of the three models carry an RS-485 Modbus RTU port, so the first job on site is to confirm which one is installed: read the commercial reference or Maint > Diag > Info, not the series name on the front.23
- Models with Modbus

Interface
Documented measurements and integration boundaries for EasyLogic PM2200.
- Product ID at register 90: INT16U, one register; 15521 on a PM2220 and 15522 on a PM2230.
- Current A, B and C at registers 3000, 3002 and 3004, average at 3010: FLOAT32, two registers each, in A.
- Voltage A-B, B-C and C-A at 3020, 3022 and 3024, and A-N, B-N and C-N at 3028, 3030 and 3032: FLOAT32 in V. Line-to-neutral values are reported only where the wiring connects them.
- Active power A, B and C at 3054, 3056 and 3058, total at 3060: FLOAT32 in kW. Total reactive power at 3068 in kVAR and total apparent power at 3076 in kVA.
- Total power factor at 3084 in Schneider's four-quadrant encoding (range -2 to 2); 3192 holds the total as a plain FLOAT32 marked IEC standard in the register list.
- Frequency at 3110: FLOAT32 in Hz.
- Active energy delivered (into the load) at 3204 and received at 3208: INT64, four registers, in Wh. FLOAT32 copies in kWh start at 2700 and 2702.
- Unavailable data reads 0xFFC00000 for FLOAT32 and 0x8000000000000000 for INT64; record it as missing, not zero.
Assessment
PM2220 and PM2230 only (METSEPM2220, METSEPM2230 and their D and VN references). The PM2210 has no RS-485 port. Register numbers come from Schneider's PM2xxx register list v1050_6, supplied with firmware package 1.05.03: record the installed firmware on the display and confirm the serial port is not set to Retrofit.
- InteroperabilityWell supported
- Schneider documents RS-485 Modbus RTU on both readable models and publishes a register list with model columns, data types, units and a product ID register.124
- AccuracySupported with conditions
- Class 1 (PM2220) or class 0.5S (PM2230) active energy with 1 A or 5 A CTs; system accuracy depends on the CTs, ratios and wiring.23
- SecuritySupported with conditions
- Modbus RTU carries no authentication. The meter offers front-panel passwords (default 0, to be changed) and can disable its RS-485 port; setup changes over Modbus go through the command interface. Keep the serial segment inside the panel.24
- ReliabilitySupported with conditions
- The manual publishes control-power ride-through times, non-volatile energy storage and the IEC 61000-4 immunity tests; communication loss still needs explicit stale-data handling.2
- RuggednessSupported with conditions
- Rated -25 to 70 °C with an IP54 front and IP30 body, for indoor stationary panels only and not wet locations.23
Setup
Read the PM2200 product ID
This one-register identity read needs no floating-point or word-order decision. Schneider's PM2xxx register list v1050_6, supplied in firmware package 1.05.03 on the METSEPM2230 product page, gives Product ID Number at register 90 as INT16U, with 15521 for the PM2220 and 15522 for the PM2230.
- Function
- FC03 Read Holding Registers, one register
- Register reference
- 90, Product ID Number, INT16U, no unit
- Zero-based PDU address
- 89 decimal, 0x0059. A client that takes one-based register numbers subtracts one itself, so enter 90 there.
- Request PDU
- 03 00 59 00 01; the unit address and RTU CRC surround the PDU.
- Expected data
- 3C A1 (15521) on a PM2220 or 3C A2 (15522) on a PM2230; unsigned 16-bit, no multiplier
- Acceptance
- Compare the decoded model with Maint > Diag > Info. Any other value means the address offset or unit address is wrong; resolve it before reading measurements.
Acceptance: 15521 or 15522 confirms both the model and the address convention. This is an expected response worked from the register list, not a captured meter transaction. Continue with frequency at register 3110 to settle the FLOAT32 word order.
-
Identify the model and firmware
Open Maint > Diag > Info and record the model, serial number and firmware version. Only the PM2220 and PM2230 have RS-485; a PM2210 has a pulse output only. Confirm the power system, CT ratio and any VT ratio under Maint > Setup > Meter > Basic with the installer.
-
Match the serial settings
Under Maint > Setup > Comm, record the address, baud rate and parity, and check that the port is not set to Retrofit. The register list gives address 1, 9600 baud and even parity as defaults; with no parity the meter uses two stop bits. Set the Edge serial client to the installed values.
-
Wire the RS-485 segment
Connect D1 (+), D0 (-), the 0V common and the shield as the instruction sheet shows, in a straight line with no loop or ring. Fit 120 Ω termination at the ends of the segment where needed, and stay within 1000 m and 32 unit loads.
-
Read the product ID
Send one FC03 read of register 90 at zero-based PDU address 89 (0x0059). Expect 15521 on a PM2220 or 15522 on a PM2230 before you read any measurement.
-
Add frequency, then the measurements
Read frequency at register 3110 (address 3109, 0x0C25) as two registers and decode one FLOAT32. It must land near 50 or 60 Hz; use it to settle the word order, because the register list does not state one. Then add current at 3000, voltage at 3020 or 3028, total active power at 3060 in kW and energy at 3204 as INT64 Wh, comparing each with the display.
-
Keep the poll read-only
Serial, setup and reset values change through Schneider's command interface. Leave those registers out of the Edge poll, and change the default display passwords of 0, as the manual recommends, so the meter cannot be reconfigured from the front panel without them.
Common questions
- Is register 3110 the address sent on the bus?
- The register list gives register numbers. With a zero-based client, send 3109 (0x0C25) for frequency. The product ID read shows which convention your client uses: it returns 15521 or 15522 only when the offset is right.4
- Which energy register should I log?
- Active energy delivered at 3204 is a four-register INT64 in Wh; 2700 is a two-register FLOAT32 copy in kWh, which keeps only about seven significant digits. Use the INT64 for totals. The manual notes that the energy values reset together when one overflows its configured scale, so handle a sudden drop as a reset.24
- What does the Retrofit setting change?
- On the PM2220 and PM2230, Retrofit switches the serial port to a legacy data model for older systems. The register numbers here come from Schneider's standard PM2xxx list, so check the setting under Maint > Setup > Comm before reading.24
- Does class 0.5S describe the whole installation?
- It is the PM2230's stated active-energy class at 5 A nominal CTs. CT accuracy and ratio, wiring and the measurement boundary all affect the system result, and the manual adds error for 1 A CTs at low current.2
