Huawei SUN2000-100KTL-M2

Commercial PV inverter

Huawei's exact-model manual places the SUN2000-100KTL-M2 on an RS485 or MBUS plant network with a SmartLogger or Smart Dongle. The RS485-2 port may instead serve the power meter for grid-point control. A third-party reader must follow the commissioned logger topology and obtain its firmware-matched northbound point contract. This guide does not establish a direct Edge inverter read or any dispatch command.

Compatibility

Direct Edge integration not yet verified

Huawei documents the exact inverter's RS485 networking and the SmartLogger3000 family's Ethernet Modbus TCP and RS485 Modbus RTU interfaces, but the retained documents do not identify a firmware-matched northbound point map, addressing model and permissions for this installation. Modbus TCP is a possible SmartLogger northbound route, not a native TCP service asserted on the inverter.

Identify the SUN2000-100KTL-M2 nameplate, regional variant, firmware, SmartLogger or Dongle model, inverter bus and grid meter. Obtain the authorised SmartLogger northbound protocol document and read access before building an Edge connection. Preserve Huawei plant control, export limitation and grid settings; no write, setpoint or VPP dispatch is approved here.

Specifications

Huawei's 100KTL-M2 datasheet identifies a nominal 100 kW AC active-power inverter, ten MPP trackers and RS485 communications. The exact-model user manual shows RS485 and MBUS networks to a SmartLogger or Smart Dongle rather than an unrestricted Ethernet reader attached to the inverter.12

Exact model
SUN2000-100KTL-M2; confirm regional suffix and firmware2
Nominal AC active power
100 kW at the documented 400 V configuration1
PV tracking
Ten independent MPP trackers; up to two inputs per tracker1
RS485-1 role
Cascade inverters or connect to a SmartLogger2
RS485-2 role
Connect a downstream RS485 device; a grid meter may occupy it for point-of-connection power control2
Northbound route
Project-specific SmartLogger or Dongle route; third-party points and permissions require a matching Huawei protocol document234

Interface

Documented measurements and integration boundaries for SUN2000-100KTL-M2.

  • PV production, inverter status and alarms are monitoring questions until the installed SmartLogger's authorised, firmware-matched northbound point list is reviewed.
  • RS485-1 is used to cascade inverters or connect the SmartLogger. RS485-2 may connect a grid power meter in Smart Dongle or single-inverter power-control scenarios. It is not a spare generic telemetry pair.
  • Huawei's MBUS plant-network option is separate from an M-Bus utility meter and separate from Edge's local client transport.
  • Inverter generation cannot by itself establish grid import or export. Qualify the actual feed-in meter and its measurement boundary.
  • Do not issue inverter setpoints, grid-code settings, export-limit or VPP dispatch writes from this selection guide.

Assessment

SUN2000-100KTL-M2 only; the actual SmartLogger or Dongle, software, meter and northbound data contract are not yet verified for Edge.

InteroperabilityLimited
Huawei documents inverter-to-logger wiring and third-party Modbus-Slave mode on the logger, but not a complete read-only Edge route for this installed M2 system.23
AccuracyNot yet assessed
A firmware-matched point list, scaling, missing-value behavior and freshness contract have not been retained.2
SecurityNot yet assessed
The site-specific read-only permission and northbound network exposure are not established.3
ReliabilityNot yet assessed
Third-party polling limits, stale-data signaling and failure behavior need the exact logger software contract.3
RuggednessSupported with conditions
Huawei publishes an IP66 rating and commercial inverter technical specification; actual site, regional and maintenance conditions still apply.1
ScalabilityNot yet assessed
The inverter manual describes cascaded logger networks, but acceptable third-party polling capacity is unverified.23
LifecycleSupported with conditions
Huawei publishes exact-model manuals and a current datasheet; deployed software and regional variant still need matching review.12

Setup

  1. Identify the exact M2 and plant owner

Record the SUN2000-100KTL-M2 nameplate, country variant and firmware. Identify the SmartLogger or Smart Dongle, whether the plant uses RS485 or MBUS, and which system owns export and grid control.

  2. Trace both RS485 roles

Map the inverter's RS485-1 uplink and RS485-2 downstream devices. Preserve the commissioned SmartLogger bus and any meter used at the grid connection point.

  3. Obtain a matching northbound contract

Ask the authorised Huawei installer for the SmartLogger or Dongle model, software version, third-party Modbus document, device-address mapping, network policy and a read-only account or equivalent permission. Do not infer registers from a different SUN2000 model.

  4. Prove one live read

With installer approval, compare an identified inverter measurement and timestamp against Huawei's local management view. Reject stale or invalid data before expanding any point list.

  5. Qualify site energy separately

For self-consumption, import, export or flexibility reporting, document the grid-point meter, direction convention and sampling freshness separately from inverter output.

Common questions

Can Edge plug directly into the SUN2000-100KTL-M2 over Ethernet?
This guide does not establish a native inverter Ethernet service. Huawei documents RS485 or MBUS plant networking and optional logger or Dongle equipment. The actual third-party route must be identified at the commissioned site.12
Can RS485-2 be used as a spare Edge bus?
Do not assume so. Huawei documents RS485-2 for a downstream device, including the grid-point power meter when that meter supports plant power control. Trace the existing wiring before proposing any new connection.2
Does a SmartLogger Modbus setting prove approved inverter dispatch?
No. A protocol mode is not a firmware-matched point and permission contract. This guide authorises no writes or VPP dispatch; they need separate plant, grid, security and fail-safe review.3
