Heiman HS2AQ-EM

Air quality monitor

A Zigbee indoor air quality monitor with an OLED display. It measures PM2.5 from 1 to 999 µg/m³ and formaldehyde from 0.01 to 1.00 mg/m³, also reports PM10, total VOC, an air quality index, temperature and humidity, and runs from 5 V USB with a lithium backup battery.

Specifications

The HS2AQ-EM is the Zigbee identifier of Heiman’s HS2AQ Smart Air Quality Monitor, a round unit 96 mm across and 38 mm high that stands on a desk or mounts on a wall. It samples air by diffusion and shows its readings on an OLED display. A buzzer and a three-colour LED flag the air: green for clean, purple for light pollution and red for heavy pollution. Heiman specifies PM2.5 from 1 to 999 µg/m³ and formaldehyde from 0.01 to 1.00 mg/m³.1

The Zigbee definition matches units that identify themselves as HS2AQ-EM or HS2AQ-EM-3.0. Units that report HS2AQ-EF-3.0 use a separate definition.3

Heiman’s current specification table names the Zigbee model HS2AQ-EFA, beside a Wi-Fi model (WS2AQ-A) and a HarmonyOS model (WS2AQ-H) with the same figures. Check the model the monitor reports when it joins.1

Setup

  1. Power it

Plug the monitor into a 5 V, 1 A Micro USB supply. The lithium battery is a backup, so keep it on USB in normal use.1

  2. Open pairing in Edge

In Edge, open pairing on the Gateway’s Zigbee network and bring the monitor close to the Gateway.

  3. Confirm the join

Check that Edge identifies it as Heiman HS2AQ-EM and that PM2.5, formaldehyde and VOC readings arrive.2

  4. Allow for the first battery report

The battery level can take up to 24 hours to appear after pairing. The air readings report hourly at the latest.2
