Enphase combines panel-level microinverters, home batteries and system monitoring, with separate cloud developer APIs for authorised integrations.
Enphase Energy develops solar generation, battery storage and energy-management equipment around a microinverter architecture. Conversion takes place at each solar module rather than through a single central inverter, while monitoring brings the installation together as a system. That distinction matters when comparing rooftop designs: the equipment on the roof, the communications gateway and any battery installation perform different jobs. The company also offers a developer platform for accessing authorised system data. It is therefore useful to compare Enphase both as a hardware ecosystem and as a source of operational information for customer applications.
The IQ Battery 5P announcement for the United States and Puerto Rico describes a modular battery starting at 5 kWh, together with IQ System Controller 3/3G and IQ Combiner 5/5C components. Capacity is the amount of energy stored; it should not be mistaken for the power available to start or run appliances. The European FlexPhase release illustrates another configuration: each 5 kWh battery can provide up to 3.84 kW in single-phase operation or 1.28 kW per phase in three-phase operation. Those figures belong to the documented regional product, rather than every Enphase battery.
The Enphase developer platform provides a cloud API route for applications that need solar-system information. This belongs to an authenticated service relationship, with API access and customer authorisation considered separately from purchasing a gateway. It should not be represented as an open Modbus register map or as proof of a local third-party control integration. The company's system description connects generation, storage, control and management within its own platform. For a comparison project, identify whether the requirement is a homeowner monitoring view, fleet reporting or operational control before deciding which interface evidence is needed.
Enphase's United States battery launch is aimed at homes seeking to use stored electricity and support backup operation. The Luxembourg FlexPhase launch addresses a different electrical context by offering three-phase backup configurations in Europe. These examples make regional selection central to a useful comparison: phase arrangement, approved system components and commissioning requirements affect the installation, even when the battery family name is familiar. The relevant buyer is often choosing a complete installed system, not simply a battery module. An installer proposal should therefore identify the generation, battery, gateway and backup-switching components together.
Enphase's investor FAQ records incorporation in 2006 and corporate headquarters in Fremont, California. The company trades on NASDAQ as ENPH, so its public reporting provides a further route for checking business identity and product announcements. Its higher-domestic-content battery announcement also shows why manufacturing and supply details need to be tied to a specific date and market. A battery sold under the same family name may have a particular sourcing configuration for a local programme. Corporate history is therefore separate from the country-specific hardware and procurement evidence used to assess an installation.
