Kempower Station Charger Version 2

DC EV charger

Kempower Station Charger Version 2 combines one or two cabinets, one to eight 50 kW Power Modules and up to two integrated DC outputs. Optional external charging points can bring the total to four. C500 and C800 modules serve different voltage envelopes, while dynamic or dynamic-ready distribution determines how power reaches connectors. Kempower directs third-party management through its OCPP and API documentation. That is a backend integration and does not establish a direct Edge connection.

Compatibility

Third-party backend supported; direct Edge integration unverified

Kempower tells operators to use its OCPP and API documentation when integrating a third-party backend. The retained public manual does not establish Edge as that backend or publish an Edge device import.

Station Charger Version 2 with Power Module V2, in a single- or double-cabinet configuration. Confirm C500 or C800 modules, dynamic or dynamic-ready distribution, connector type, external charging points, optional AC socket, energy meters, firmware and backend contract. Version 1 and North American configurations need separate checks.

Specifications

Version 2 uses Power Module V2 in single- or double-cabinet form. Site output is set by module count, module voltage class, distribution configuration, connector ratings and the vehicle request.12

Power modules
One to four 50 kW modules per cabinet; single cabinet up to 200 kW, double cabinet up to 400 kW12
DC outputs
One or two integrated DC connectors; one or two external charging points can extend the system to four12
Voltage classes
C500 for 500 V class and C800 for 800 V class; confirm module and vehicle voltage compatibility2
Power routing
Dynamic or dynamic-ready distribution; dynamic routing reallocates independent 25 kW channels during charging2
Backend
ChargEye or a third-party backend using Kempower's OCPP and API integration documentation3

Interface

Documented measurements and integration boundaries for Station Charger Version 2.

  • C500 and C800 refer to module voltage classes. Record the module type rather than labelling every Station Charger simply as 400 kW.
  • Dynamic distribution can reroute 25 kW channels during a session. Dynamic-ready uses a fixed route until the distribution hardware is changed.
  • Integrated energy meters, an AC Type 2 socket and external charging points are options. Do not assume they are present from the cabinet name.

Assessment

Station Charger Version 2; exact module, distribution, output and backend configuration must be confirmed.

InteroperabilitySupported with conditions
Kempower documents a third-party OCPP/API backend process, but the detailed interface contract and direct Edge compatibility are not public here.3
AccuracyNot yet assessed
Integrated energy meters are optional and the retained public pages do not state their accuracy or billing approval.
SecurityNot yet assessed
The retained public material does not state the OCPP security profile, credential lifecycle or certificate configuration.
ReliabilitySupported with conditions
The manual identifies dynamic routing, installation tests and manufacturer commissioning, while network fallback and session recovery require site evidence.23
RuggednessNot yet assessed
The retained version page does not publish complete enclosure, temperature and impact ratings for every product-code configuration.
ScalabilityWell supported
One or two cabinets, up to eight modules and up to four charging points provide documented staged capacity and dynamic allocation.12
LifecycleSupported with conditions
Kempower maintains a current technical portal and requires certified installation; version and configuration records remain essential for replacement.2

Setup

  1. Confirm the Version 2 label, single- or double-cabinet arrangement, C500/C800 module type and count, dynamic or dynamic-ready distribution, integrated and external outputs, meters and optional AC socket.

  2. Have Kempower-certified and electrically authorised personnel verify foundations, three-phase supply, protection, cable routing, Ethernet tests and local inspection requirements.

  3. Agree the backend and obtain Kempower's OCPP/API documentation and integration support.

Record charge-point and connector identities before onboarding the charger.

  4. Prove every configured connector with a bounded charge, including power allocation when multiple vehicles request power.

Compare connector state, requested power, delivered power, session energy and timestamps.

  5. Test loss and restoration of Ethernet or cellular service and the approved backend.

Record the observed fallback rather than inferring it from OCPP support.
