Alpitronic HYC400 Series 2
DC EV charger
HYC400 Series 2 is a European high-power DC charger built from one to four 100 kW SiC stacks. It provides 100 to 400 kW total output, 150 to 1,000 V DC and up to two 600 A continuous CCS2 connectors. Alpitronic lists OCPP 1.6 J and 2.0.1 J between the charger and a charging-management system. Those interfaces support a CPMS project, but the published material does not establish EpiSensor Edge as that central system.

Compatibility
CPMS interfaces documented; direct Edge integration unverified
Alpitronic documents OCPP 1.6 J and 2.0.1 J for the EVSE-to-CPMS path, together with Ethernet and cellular networking. It does not publish an Edge OCPP server, an Edge import or a tested Edge control path for this charger.
European HYC400 Series 2 with 400 V nominal supply and CCS2 connectors. It is distinct from the original HYC400 and the North American configuration. Confirm the ordered stack count, connector count, cable, metering option, firmware and CPMS acceptance before commissioning. No OCPP endpoint, charging profile or Edge template is supplied here.
Models
| Models | Interface | Route into Edge |
|---|---|---|
| HYC400 Series 2, one to four SiC stacks | 100 to 400 kW total, one or two CCS2 outputs, OCPP 1.6 J and 2.0.1 J | Connect the charger to a qualified CPMS. Direct Edge monitoring or control is unverified. |
| Original HYC400 | Separate platform with different connector and configuration choices | Do not transfer Series 2 continuous-current, display or European ordering claims to the original HYC400. |
Specifications
The current European product page separates the Series 2 from the original HYC400. Output depends on the number of installed SiC stacks and how the two CCS2 connectors share available power.12
- DC output
- 100, 200, 300 or 400 kW total from one to four SiC stacks; 150 to 1,000 V DC1
- Connectors
- CCS2, up to two connectors; 600 A continuous per connector in the supported configuration1
- Supply and efficiency
- 400 V nominal three-phase supply, 630 A maximum input; up to 97.7% at full load1
- Backend and network
- OCPP 1.6 J and 2.0.1 J to a CPMS; Ethernet and cellular network interfaces1
- Environment
- IP54, IK10, -30 to +55 °C operation; output can depend on environmental limits1
- Metering option
- Optional DC meters with an additional display for German calibration-law applications1
Interface
Documented measurements and integration boundaries for HYC400 Series 2.
- Keep charger identity, CPMS charge-point identity, connector identity, stack count and firmware together in the asset record.
- OCPP session values and commands belong to the selected CPMS contract. They do not prove direct polling, control or billing through Edge.
- German calibration-law DC meters are an option. Confirm the ordered meter and approval boundary rather than treating every HYC400 Series 2 as compliant.
Assessment
HYC400 Series 2 European configuration; no direct Edge OCPP integration or universal billing claim.
- InteroperabilitySupported with conditions
- OCPP 1.6 J and 2.0.1 J are named, but CPMS compatibility and direct Edge use need separate qualification.1
- AccuracyLimited
- Power and optional compliant DC metering are described; the installed meter, exposed OCPP values and billing approval remain order-specific.1
- SecurityNot yet assessed
- The public pages do not specify the installed OCPP security profile, credential lifecycle or certificate handling.
- ReliabilitySupported with conditions
- Supply, environmental limits, remote diagnostics and software updates are described; reconnection and fallback behavior require a site test.1
- RuggednessSupported with conditions
- IP54, IK10, temperature, altitude, humidity and installation form are published for the European unit.1
- ScalabilitySupported with conditions
- One to four stacks and dynamic allocation across two outputs support staged capacity, subject to site supply and CPMS design.12
- LifecycleSupported with conditions
- The current platform has remote diagnostics and updates, but firmware history and configuration export need confirmation for the installed fleet.1
Setup
-
Read the model plate and order record to confirm HYC400 Series 2, the installed stack count, one or two CCS2 connectors, cable length and metering option.
Record the firmware before changing configuration.
-
Have an authorised installer verify the 400 V three-phase supply, protective devices, civil base, cable entry, ventilation and manufacturer environmental limits for the ordered maximum input.
-
Agree the OCPP version, security profile, charge-point identity and endpoint with the CPMS operator.
Prove charger acceptance at the CPMS before enabling managed charging.
-
Run a bounded charge on each connector.
Compare requested and delivered power, connector state, timestamps and session energy while another connector is idle and, where applicable, while both are active.
-
Test network loss, CPMS loss and restart behavior under the approved operating plan.
An accepted OCPP session is software evidence, not proof of physical power delivery.
Common questions
- Can each connector deliver 400 kW at the same time?
- No. The published maximum is 400 kW total. With four stacks, two connectors can each deliver up to 600 A, while dynamic allocation shares the available power.1
- Does OCPP 2.0.1 J establish direct Edge control?
- No. Alpitronic documents a charger-to-CPMS interface. A compatible, tested Edge central-system role is not established by these sources.1
- Is every Series 2 charger approved for German billing?
- No. The product page describes compliant DC meters and an additional display as an option. Verify the exact ordered meter, certificate and operating process.1
