Deep Sea Electronics DSE4520 MKII
Single-generator AMF controller
DSE4520 MKII is a compact automatic mains-failure controller for a single generating set. It measures plant conditions and manages the existing standby sequence. The product is useful in the device directory even though its USB configuration port is not a direct Edge monitoring connection.

Controller selection and monitoring options
USB configuration and CAN engine interface; no RS-485 Modbus port in the cited datasheet
DSE4520 MKII and DSE4510 MKII have different AMF and auto-start roles. Do not transfer the RS-485 ports of the larger DSE7320 MKII to this compact model. CAN engine communication does not itself provide a native Edge path.

Interface
Documented measurements and integration boundaries for DSE4520 MKII.
- Generator and mains electrical measurements displayed by the controller
- CAN engine diagnostic values where the engine supports them
- Alarm, run and breaker indications available in the panel design
Assessment
USB configuration and CAN engine interface; no RS-485 Modbus port in the cited datasheet
- InteroperabilityNot yet assessed
- USB configuration and CAN engine interface; no RS-485 Modbus port in the cited datasheet
- AccuracySupported with conditions
- The documentation identifies electrical and operating measurements for this plant role. CT configuration and measurement location determine how those values are used.12
- SecurityNot yet assessed
- The cited documentation does not establish an authenticated, encrypted Edge monitoring connection.
- ReliabilityNot yet assessed
- The controller application distinguishes operating conditions and alarms. Retain communication availability alongside the plant readings.
- RuggednessSupported with conditions
- IP65 front when correctly panel-mounted with the specified gasket. Check whether the gasket is supplied or an option for the exact model.2
- ScalabilityNot yet assessed
- Assign one device identity per controller and keep generator, mains and busbar measurements separate.
Setup
-
Use DSE Configuration Suite over USB to save the configuration and identify measured electrical and engine quantities.
For continuous Edge monitoring, plan a separate generator-output meter and panel status contacts, or select a controller with a documented monitoring interface.
-
Record CT ratios and the physical measurement location.
Compare the first electrical values with the controller display before using them in totals or trends.
-
Keep missing responses distinct from a stopped generator.
Store communication availability beside running state so a disconnected cable does not look like healthy standby.
