Power and energy

Electrical load factor calculator

Calculate average demand and load factor from energy, peak interval demand and the matching period.

Calculate

One matching measurement period
kWh
kW
hours
For example, 30 days × 24 hours = 720 hours.

Worked example

Load factor

50 %

Average demand over the period
50 kW
Unused share of peak demand
50 %

For the entered period only. Compare periods that use the same demand interval.

Method and assumptions

Formula

Load factor = energy ÷ (peak demand × period hours)

Energy and peak demand must cover the same period. Peak demand also depends on the utility demand interval.
