SolaX Power
Hybrid inverters, batteries and connected energy controls
SolarEdge supplies solar inverters, power optimizers, energy meters and storage, with documented monitoring interfaces and model-specific backup systems.
SolarEdge combines PV power conversion with module-level optimisation, site metering and storage. Its company overview places inverters and power optimizers alongside batteries, charging and energy-management software. The useful system boundary is the complete path from the array through the inverter to the building and grid, rather than the inverter's production figure alone.
A separate energy meter provides the site measurements needed to understand consumption and export. The Home Battery 400V adds DC-coupled storage for specified combinations. These components answer different questions: how much the array produces, how the site exchanges energy with the grid, and how much energy can be stored for later use.
The Energy Meter with Modbus Connection uses current transformers selected for the installation and communicates over RS485 to a SolarEdge inverter or Commercial Gateway. SolarEdge states that current transformers must be ordered separately. The meter is therefore part of the measurement arrangement, not simply a software option that creates consumption data from PV production.
The Home Battery 400V stores energy through direct DC coupling. The reviewed regional page permits up to three batteries per inverter in supported arrangements. It also distinguishes ordinary storage from backup: backup applications require the specified Home Hub inverter and Home Backup Interface, with regional availability and installation requirements applying.

SolarEdge's SunSpec logging technical note describes Modbus RTU over RS485 and Modbus TCP over Ethernet. The indexed June 2025 version states that supported SetApp inverters and qualifying LCD firmware can expose SunSpec data, while limiting the system to a single external Modbus leader. This is relevant when a site already has a third-party logger.
That monitoring path is separate from the energy meter's RS485 connection and from the battery power connection. A data model for inverter production does not establish every battery or control function. The selected inverter model and firmware determine the applicable logging configuration and data map; commissioning should record these alongside the chosen physical connection.
A building that already has PV generation may still lack visibility of its total demand. SolarEdge's metering page addresses this distinction by collecting site consumption and import/export information. That measurement supports decisions about when loads operate and whether stored solar energy would serve demand later in the day.
The battery product page describes both on-grid and backup applications, but those are different system configurations. A storage purchase intended to maintain supply during an outage must include the compatible backup equipment, while a self-consumption installation may have a different objective. The regional compatibility details are therefore more informative than the battery capacity or efficiency headline alone.
SolarEdge's company history dates the business to 2006. Its privacy policy identifies the headquarters at HaMada 1 in Herzliya, Israel, while the contact page lists its wider office presence. The company profile covers its solar and energy-management products without assigning one country's product availability to every market.
For an engineering comparison, the manufacturer's regional product pages and knowledge-centre documents serve complementary roles. Product pages explain the intended system combinations; technical notes define supported interfaces and commissioning details. The Home Battery 400V page, for example, separates supported storage combinations from the additional hardware needed for backup, and identifies regional limits on some three-phase combinations.
