Building consumption metering, remote reading and cost allocation
BITUO TECHNIK makes compact energy meters, split-core CT monitors and residual-current sensors, with model-specific Zigbee, Wi-Fi and RS485 options.
BITUO TECHNIK makes electrical measurement hardware in several physical formats. The SPM02 fits around the conductors of a three-phase distribution board, while the SDM01 uses separate split-core current transformers connected to a compact monitor. This gives designers a useful choice between an integrated current path and remotely positioned CTs.
The difference is practical as well as dimensional. The available conductor aperture, circuit current, access for installation and spare enclosure space influence which format is appropriate. Wireless communications can remove a data cable, but they do not remove the need for voltage connections or a correctly installed current sensor. These products measure the electrical circuit rather than estimate energy from an appliance's operating state.
The SPM02 flexible product addresses three-phase and neutral circuits up to 63 A per phase. Its compact arrangement avoids occupying a conventional DIN-rail module position. The SDM01 family instead combines a narrow monitor with external CTs, making it a different choice for larger conductors and supplies.
SDM01 Gen2 offers several CT current ratings and aperture sizes. Its ordering table separates the physical measurement package from the communications version. A purchaser should select the CT range and opening for the circuit, then the data path required by the receiving system. Gen2 specifications belong to that generation; they should not be substituted into an existing first-generation SDM01 installation record.
The Gen2 ordering table provides unusually useful detail about the connection choices. TWM versions combine Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with RS485 and the Tuya ecosystem. EWM versions offer local network interfaces including MQTT, HTTP and Modbus TCP alongside Modbus RTU. SZM versions combine standard Zigbee clusters with RS485. These are alternative product configurations rather than a promise that every SDM01 implements every interface.
Accuracy also has a hardware boundary. Bituo's SPM02 Class 1 update identifies the upgraded version using a -CL1 order suffix and a Cl.1 marking. The Zigbee device identifier alone is therefore insufficient evidence of that accuracy variant. This matters when measurements will be compared with another meter or used in a contractual calculation.
These meters suit distribution-board monitoring in homes and commercial premises, including sites with generation where import and export need separate interpretation. The SPM02 product and SDM01 family address that measurement task through different mechanical arrangements. For a retrofit, photographs and dimensions of the intended board can be as important as the network specification.
A circuit meter provides electrical measurements; a controller still needs to decide what action to take. Solar optimisation, load management and building automation therefore require a receiving system with the relevant measurements, update behaviour and control logic. The documentation library separates meter manuals from relay-switch manuals, helping distinguish the measurement point from the actuator in that system.
Bituo's company account dates its founding to 2018 and places product development in Shanghai and manufacturing in Jiangsu Province. Its contact page gives the Shanghai office address. The business covers electrical monitoring as well as residual-current sensing and protection components, so its complete range is broader than the smart meters represented here.
The official shop and documentation library provide a route from product family to manual. For an existing device sold through another brand, the complete original ordering code is particularly useful: the same enclosure style can appear with different communications electronics. Bituo's own variant tables are more informative for that identification than the generic Tuya platform name.
