Works with thousands of standard Zigbee devices

Edge supports standard Zigbee 3.0, so thousands of off-the-shelf switches, lamps, sensors and meters from over 400 vendors can join the same secure, wireless mesh network beside EpiSensor devices. You can view data and set up automation rules with devices from different manufacturers, even across different wired and wireless protocols.

LoRaWAN for long range and battery life

The Gateway can carry a LoRaWAN radio for long-range, battery-powered sensing across campuses, large sites and utility infrastructure, where a local mesh does not reach. Support for third-party LoRaWAN devices in Edge is coming soon.

BACnet for building management systems

Connect the Gateway to the building management system already in place. Edge reads and writes BACnet points, so heating, ventilation and lighting appear beside the wireless sensors and can be controlled from the same rules.

Modbus for meters and plant

Wired Modbus talks to existing plant equipment, BMS and SCADA: meters, HVAC, heat pumps, solar inverters, EV chargers and battery storage systems. Wireless Zigbee devices such as the ZDR demand response controller can sit alongside them in the same data model, so Modbus and Zigbee devices coexist on one site and existing assets join without new hardware.

Wired and wireless, all in one Gateway

Every device, whatever protocol it uses, has access to the same tools for configuration, data and automation. A Zigbee sensor can command an asset over Modbus, a meter can feed a digital twin, and automation rules run on site without any connection to the cloud.

On-board 4G or 5G cellular for lightning fast deployment

EpiSensor Gateways support on-board cellular modems that work worldwide. Add your own data SIM card and get secure, high bandwidth remote access without interfacing to on-site IT systems.

Connect your Gateways to any software platform

Edge supports open Internet-native communications protocols like HTTPS, MQTTS and FTPS. It has a comprehensive API for managing every aspect of the system, and an IDE based on Node-RED for building custom integrations to local or cloud systems. Use EpiSensor Core to manage a fleet of Gateways: secure onboarding, health monitoring and remote management over MQTTS that works behind NAT and firewalls.
