Connected heating and residential energy control
Sensirion supplies environmental and flow sensing components for HVAC, building controls, medical equipment and industrial product designs.
Sensirion supplies sensing components and modules used inside instruments, HVAC controls and connected products. Its company overview covers environmental sensing, gas and liquid flow, differential pressure and gas-metering applications. The range serves building ventilation and room sensing as well as medical devices, industrial equipment and consumer products. For building energy applications, its contribution is the measurement element: carbon dioxide can inform ventilation demand, while humidity and temperature support environmental control. The catalogue includes both individual components such as SHT40 and combined modules such as SEN55, with separate specifications and host-integration requirements for each family.
The SCD41 measures carbon dioxide using photoacoustic NDIR sensing and integrates humidity and temperature compensation. Its specified carbon-dioxide measurement range is 400–5,000 ppm; the broader numerical output range shown in the catalogue is a different specification. Single-shot operation provides an alternative to continuous measurement. The component is designed for surface-mount assembly and supplied in tape-and-reel packaging for volume production. Sensirion positions it for indoor air-quality instruments and ventilation control. The product page includes a datasheet, low-power operation guidance, design-in instructions, handling guidance, CAD resources and software drivers rather than only a marketing specification.
The SHT40 is a digital humidity and temperature sensor with a typical relative-humidity accuracy of 1.8% RH. The catalogue specifies a 1.08–3.6 V supply range, a 0–100% RH operating range and factory calibration. Its small DFN package targets integration into space-constrained and battery-powered products. Sensirion publishes handling, contamination and design-in guidance alongside the electrical datasheet. The resource set also includes transition guides from older humidity families. This makes SHT40 a component-level option for a manufacturer's own electronics, rather than a complete wall-mounted room transmitter with a fieldbus connection and enclosure.
The SEN55 product page combines particulate matter, humidity, temperature, VOC and NOx information in an environmental sensing node. It identifies particle-size outputs for PM1.0, PM2.5, PM4 and PM10 and supplies documentation explaining the gas indices and underlying sensing methods. SEN55 is currently marked not recommended for new designs, with SEN65 named as its successor. That lifecycle information is relevant when comparing existing equipment with new designs. Separately, the SCD4x developer resources provide host software and evaluation support for carbon-dioxide sensing; the SEN55's gas indices are not a replacement for the SCD41's CO₂ measurement.
Sensirion's history dates the company to 1998 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich. Its headquarters is in Stäfa, Switzerland, and the company describes approximately 1,200 employees across that location and international subsidiaries. Its current activities span medical, industrial, automotive, building and consumer-electronics applications. The company maintains dedicated developer resources, a technical download centre, distributor information and commercial and engineering support channels. The corporate site also distinguishes Sensirion Connected Solutions and Qmicro from the main component catalogue. This profile focuses on the sensor business and its documented product families rather than treating every group activity as the same offering.
