Symphony Energy combines HVAC optimisation, heat-recycling strategies, WellTech sensing and a cloud platform for commercial buildings.
Symphony Energy combines engineering work with technology for improving commercial-building HVAC performance. Its Smart Optimisation process starts by modelling the building’s operation using information about construction, occupancy, climate and existing equipment. It then assesses changes before applying tailored operating strategies and automation. This is a more involved offering than presenting energy totals: the intended outcome is a change in how heating, cooling and ventilation operate. The current portfolio includes cloud analysis, environmental sensing, demand-controlled ventilation and controls retrofit. Those components can contribute to a broader optimisation project, rather than all being mandatory parts of a single fixed package.
Symphony Cycle addresses heat transfer within an existing HVAC arrangement. The published description explains how a cooling coil in an air-handling unit can be used to preheat incoming outside air during colder conditions, while obtaining useful chilled water through the same process. The approach depends on the building’s plant and operating conditions; it is not a claim of energy creation or a universal saving for any HVAC system. Symphony presents it as a controls-led implementation that can be undertaken with the existing controls contractor. Its scope is different from simply installing room sensors or changing dashboard software.

Symphony Cloud combines BMS, metering and WellTech data in one analysis environment. The current page specifies a BACnet interface for existing building systems and describes trending, operational analysis and setpoint intervention. It publishes separate setup, data-point and annual platform charges, with different recurring rates for central-plant and other points. The integration requires system diagrams and point information to configure the building representation. The BMS retrofit offering extends the engineering scope to isolated legacy plant, using a hardware and software overlay to bring it under coordinated control rather than requiring wholesale replacement of every mechanical asset.
The WellTech monitoring offering provides configurable environmental measurements including temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, particles and other indoor-air-quality indicators. The current page names LoRaWAN communication to Symphony Cloud and describes configurations selected around the project’s required metrics and data detail. Monitoring is distinct from the demand-controlled ventilation service, where local measurements influence airflow and connect with the main HVAC plant. That separation is useful when comparing products: collecting air-quality data alone does not establish that ventilation actuators and control logic have been integrated. Symphony presents both measurement and control as parts of its current portfolio.
The current company page dates Symphony’s work to 2011 and names Tom Ascough as managing director, with Sean Ascough and Pedro Chicala among the directors. Its expertise spans HVAC engineering, software, data science and commercial property. Its current office network includes Blessington in Ireland, Belfast in the United Kingdom and Front Royal in Virginia. The team combines building-specific engineering with software and monitoring expertise, allowing its projects to address both measurement and the operation of the installed mechanical systems. Symphony’s offering remains focused on commercial buildings, combining ongoing optimisation with the installation and controls work needed to make changes effective. Its official company profile identifies Wicklow, Ireland as headquarters.
