Overview

Netvox develops wireless sensing products for buildings and equipment. Its manufacturer profile at TEEMA describes both Zigbee and LoRaWAN product lines. These are separate networking choices; a company offering both does not make an individual sensor compatible with both networks.

For energy-related monitoring, the R718N3 measures three phase currents. For environmental context, the R718AB measures temperature and humidity. Those two examples illustrate a useful distinction between measuring an electrical load and measuring the conditions around it. A project can combine the readings in one application, but their engineering units, payload formats and installation requirements remain specific to each device.

Offering

The R718N3 current sensor is available with different current-transformer arrangements and ranges. The device repository describes a solid-core option and multiple clamp options, so the full model identity matters when matching a conductor and expected load. Battery power also makes reporting interval an operational choice rather than an unlimited sampling resource.

The R718AB provides temperature and humidity measurements using a replaceable lithium battery. It is a different instrument with a different decoder. Neither the presence of a common enclosure family nor a common LoRaWAN network justifies substituting one product's payload definition for another. Device selection should begin with the physical quantity needed and then identify the exact radio and measurement variant.

Technology

The Things Network publishes model-specific device and payload information for both R718N3 and R718AB. Its integration path includes a regional frequency plan and firmware identity, followed by the device credentials needed for network onboarding. The repository's decoder turns received bytes into named application fields.

That is evidence for the documented network integration, rather than a claim of universal software compatibility. Akenza's R718N3 entry provides another concrete example of application-side support. For a new deployment, compare a decoded current or temperature with an independent known condition before relying on the data. A successful radio join demonstrates connectivity; it does not establish that a value has the intended unit or that the sensor is installed on the intended circuit.

Markets

Netvox's TEEMA company profile identifies building, environmental and energy-management applications. The current sensor can help distinguish operating states and compare phase loading, while the temperature and humidity sensor adds environmental observations. These are useful inputs to a monitoring application without implying that either product provides a complete building-management system.

A current-only device also has a clear boundary: phase current does not independently establish real power or accumulated electrical energy. Applications that need billed consumption require an appropriate energy measurement source. The distinction is particularly important when comparing a clamp-based retrofit with a meter that also measures voltage and accounts for power factor.

Company

The Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association profile records Netvox's foundation in 1996 and headquarters in Tainan, Taiwan. It also describes manufacturing in Xiamen and OEM/ODM activity. These company facts provide context; the model-specific documentation is the stronger source for an individual device's measurement and communications capabilities.

Integration support is visible in named platforms as well as device catalogues. For example, UMA's July 2025 release notes identify support for the R718N3-25, and Akenza maintains an R718N3 device entry. Such references are useful when planning a data path because they identify a specific product. They should not be extended to every Netvox sensor or to an unspecified gateway.
