Wireless room sensing for buildings and energy context
Eliq turns household and small-business energy data into customer apps, energy insights and utility portfolio analytics.
Eliq provides the customer-facing intelligence layer for energy suppliers. Its Insights product turns consumption and tariff information into explanations of energy use, cost changes, budgets and potential savings. Utilities can deliver those features through their own digital services rather than asking customers to interpret raw meter tables. The portfolio also includes analytics for the supplier’s teams and a separate small-business offering. This makes Eliq relevant to utilities seeking engagement between bills, more informed service conversations and better targeting of energy services. Its principal role is understanding and presenting energy data, rather than replacing the electricity meter or a local plant controller.
Eliq Insights supports customer-facing consumption breakdowns, forecasts, alerts and tariff guidance. Eliq Intelligence applies the same underlying customer context to a supplier’s portfolio, highlighting behavioural segments, possible tariff mismatches and opportunities for relevant communication. Energy Insights for SMEs adapts the approach to business sites, where operating patterns and unusual consumption differ from household use. The developer offering preserves these distinctions: an energy supplier can ingest data through the Data Management API and present results through the Insights API. Branded applications and API integration are alternative delivery routes rather than different types of electricity measurement hardware.
The API model centres on users, locations and meters. Energy values belong to a meter, while a location carries contextual information about the home or premises. Tariff formulas provide the basis for cost calculations. This lets one customer have several locations and each location have several meters or fuels. No Meter Insights is a separate estimation path: it uses a location profile and previous annual consumption to produce daily electricity estimates. These values are modelled, not a substitute for a live meter stream. The distinction matters when an application combines measured history, disaggregated categories, forecasts and estimated consumption in one experience.
Eliq serves utilities building digital relationships with household and small-business customers. Its E.ON Next case study describes the Playmaker customer experience and a measured churn comparison for that deployment. That result relates to the study’s participating population and service design, rather than a universal retention guarantee. The business product addresses sites with more complex operating schedules and cost drivers, while the household offering explains everyday patterns and possible changes in energy use. Both rely on presenting data in context. A utility can use those insights alongside existing billing and customer-management systems rather than replacing every operational system at once.
Eliq is based in Gothenburg, where its company page identifies Eliq AB as the head office. The organisation also has UK and Lithuanian entities and offices. The official company profile records 2015 in its founding field while describing the present utility-focused journey as beginning in Sweden in 2016. Its website traces earlier work to a wall-mounted consumption monitor, before the focus developed towards software and customer energy services. Håkan Ludvigson is identified as CEO and co-founder. The current business combines energy analytics, digital experience and developer interfaces, reflecting that move from an individual monitoring product to services embedded in utilities’ customer relationships.
