Solar inverters and battery energy systems
Dexter Energy provides wind, solar and electricity-price forecasts through APIs for asset-backed traders, utilities and battery flexibility teams.
Dexter Energy supplies power and price forecasts used in short-term electricity trading. Its current platform addresses the decisions between expected renewable output and a trading position, while its FAQ places the service between raw data and the algorithms or people making trades. A wind or solar operator can use a generation forecast to plan delivery, then adjust its position as conditions change. A battery or flexibility team can use price signals to evaluate available actions. Dexter provides that forecasting input rather than acting as the site's physical equipment controller.
The product catalogue separates Power Forecasting from Price Forecasting. Power Forecasting covers utility-scale wind and solar as well as behind-the-meter prosumption at asset level. Features include near-time forecasts, solar nowcasting and identification of weather-related production losses. Price Forecasting provides imbalance-price forecasts and signals for intraday decisions involving renewables, batteries and flexible demand. The service FAQ explains how those outputs fit successive trading stages, from preparing day-ahead bids to updating positions closer to delivery. Customers can therefore select forecasts that address volume uncertainty, price uncertainty, or both within an existing trading workflow.
Dexter states that its generation models combine more than ten numerical weather-prediction models and deliver results through a self-service RESTful API. Validation layers, fallback runs and alternative models support delivery when inputs vary. The integration FAQ confirms REST API delivery for forecasts and describes alternatives such as FTP or a customer's own API where required. These are software data interfaces for forecasts, rather than fieldbus drivers for inverters or meters. Portfolio onboarding, data quality and ongoing monitoring form part of the service around the forecast outputs consumed by an automated trading system.
Dexter's Sunrock customer story, published in November 2023, describes onboarding a solar portfolio for day-ahead power forecasts. Trading analysts and data engineers worked with dedicated customer-success and operations staff during integration. The example is useful because it shows the operational work behind adding a forecast feed: the recipient needs a usable data pipeline and an agreed implementation process, not just a chart. More broadly, the FAQ identifies utilities, retailers, renewable offtakers, aggregators, independent power producers and proprietary traders as customer groups, with commercial scope depending on markets and portfolio characteristics.
Dexter's company page brings together meteorology, energy trading and machine-learning expertise. It names Luuk Veeken as CEO, Hubert Penn as CPO and Giuseppe Procaccianti as CTO, and gives an Amsterdam address and Dutch company-registration number 65426479. The team includes forecast operations, data engineering, meteorological data and quantitative trading roles, reflecting the ongoing work needed to deliver usable predictions. Its published mission focuses on renewable power markets, while the Sunrock implementation example shows those technical disciplines working alongside customer support during a practical forecasting deployment. Its official company information gives 2017 as the founding year and Amsterdam, Netherlands as headquarters.
